To celebrate its 175th anniversary, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen presents Craving for Boijmans. For five weeks, from 1 June to 7 July 2024, the closed museum building in Rotterdam will open for a special art route and an extra programme in the Henket pavilion. The museum garden will also be open. This is a unique opportunity to visit the monumental building and to appreciate art and architecture. Tickets for the special art route through the building go on sale on 1 May 2024.
Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen’s monumental building opened in 1935 and closed its doors in 2019 for renovation and modernisation. Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen opened in 2021. Craving for Boijmans is a joyous public event, celebrating 175 years of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen with as many visitors and artists as possible.
For five weeks, the museum will present an art route that situates visitors between the echoes of the past and dreams of the future. We will welcome you into an empty building that is brought to life with interventions by artists. The inspiration is our collective memory of special moments from the museum’s history: exhibitions, happenings and personal stories. It will be an exciting visit: you have never seen the building like this before and you will never see it like this again.
More details about the artists on display, interventions and a programme for children will follow in April 2024. With a few exceptions, the additional programme in the Henket Pavilion is free. More information about this programme will also follow in April 2024.
Craving for Boijmans will run from Saturday 1 June to Sunday 7 July. The building will be open from Wednesday to Sunday. A ticket is required to visit the building. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday 1 May via www.boijmans.nl.
Craving for Boijmans is organised by Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in partnership with AIR and the Rotterdam City Council.
